Child Protection:

Child Care

  • Provision of support to family reunification of children with their families’ process and enhancement of care alternatives to residential care for children

  • Provision of technical support to state institutions (MHSP, SSS and SARPC) in the de-institutionalization process

  • Development and implementation of the Family Strengthening service models and Professional Foster Care

  • Development of protocols for the de-institutionalization process

  • Provision of direct supporting services for children without parental care

  • Provision of capacity building to statutory workers within the alternative childcare services

Roma and Egyptian:

  • Provision of access to education for Roma and Egyptian children

  • Provision of inclusive education opportunities in the Lana Bregas community

Trafficking in human beings:

Youth:

  • Provision of programs for community participation and enhancement of social capital 

  • Empowering youth through sportive mental health programs in Tirana

  • Participation of youth in youth clubs at the House of Colors for community and citizen engagement

Multidisciplinary Services:

  • Multidisciplinary services in the community centre “House of Colors” – since 2010

  • Multidisciplinary services for the Albanian returnees “Rrashbull” – established in 2020 and handed over to Durres Municipality in June 2023

  • Multidisciplinary services for returnees’ children aged 0-8 in Selita – since 2019

  • Integrated specialized mental health and psychosocial services for children, youth and their families’ victims or in need for protection

Who we provide help

  • Children (boys and girls) facing various forms abuse, violence, exploitation trafficking, without parental care and complex vulnerabilities.

  • Youth (15-29 years of age), especially those with fewer opportunities for education, employment, or training.

  • Mothers/women subject to domestic violence, as well as girls and women facing gender inequalities.

  • Families facing difficult socio-economic situations, including those at risk of separation from their children.

  • Roma and Egyptian communities and families at risk of social exclusion, including Roma girls at risk of early marriage.

  • The child protection workforce and social care professionals, including social workers from the Need Assessment and Referral Units (NARU).

  • Psychosocial service providers, teachers, and the law enforcement professionals.

  • Individuals (especially children, young people and women) at risk of radicalisation and violent extremism: the returnees from the conflict zones.

  • Foreign (non-Albanian) families and children in the territory of Albania that experience situations of social vulnerabilities and risks.

Geography of work

  • The Emergency Shelter (in the House of Colors in Tirana) serves all children and mothers nationally who are at risk or have survived violence and abuse.

  • The mobile emergency response team, which is deployed for urgent child protection cases in principle, covers the entire country; however, the situation is accessed case-by-case, considering the availability of staff and transportation logistics.

  • Organization, through its multiple and diverse programs, is currently present in the municipalities of Tirana, Kruje, Elbasan, Durres, Shkodra, Vlora, Korca, Kurbin and Lezha** in the form of an established office/service or locally based staff.

  • The organisation’s support for the capacity building of various professionals happens country-wide.

  •
